Should I Get CoD 4?

I've heard all the positives and negatives regarding this game but ultimately I want to know should I get this game? Should I Get CoD 4?
It depends on your hardware. I sadly, still prefer the 360 version over the PC version. It feels like it has more polish. If that's not an option for you, by all means grab it. (I'd recommend grabbing it through Steam.)Should I Get CoD 4?
GET IT. the single player game is great and the MP is as addictive as crack. there are several minor issues with the MP, but it's not enough to deter the purchase. and on a sidenote if you do get it... once you go hardcore, it's hard to go back to regular.
and on a sidenote if you do get it... once you go hardcore, it's hard to go back to regular.
The quoted statement is true. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise, the sheer vulnerability everyone has makes it so much more satisfying to play. Not only that, it makes the weapons feel like they are lethal too.
The Sniper mission alone should be incentive enough for most players :) For me it was like revisiting STALKER the way I wanted it to be, and reviewing all my favorite sniper films.
It's loads of fun; I currentlyplay it both on PC and 360.Multiplayer is really fun; just few minor issuesbut theonline play is awesome nonetheless.Campaign is pretty short;I am almostdone with the hardened mode, andit's quite challengingin some areas in the mission maps for me, theAI will test you (I have yet to see how veteran is;I presume you will have to use brainpower at that difficulty).Currently I like the 360 version better; less latency from Live servers :)Also, as a side note, I play a little Halo3 from time to time; there are usually 300k+ players onlinefor that game in 360; but CoD only stutters with 25-60k online ... in the 360... (its still a LOT)
Currently I like the 360 version better; less latency from Live servers :)
you do know that LIVE doesn't have its own servers right? all LIVE does is take a person and use their connection as a host. that's why in most games you can't play more than 8 at a time. this is a MAJOR problem with LIVE-- that, and they make you pay to use you own internet connection.
yes, you should buy it, and you should buy it on the pc

Is there something unique about it, or do you always recommend Steam versions when possible -- which is fine, there are some advantages.Personally though, I avoid Steam whenever possible :) I'd rather have stand-alone (retail) games over locked/dependent (Steam, etc) versions. I prefer them retail so you can freely sell/trade/borrow them, can install them without an internet connection, your ''ownership'' isn't dependent on a server existing forever, install your games in your own chosen game directory structure, don't need another client application to launch your games, etc.Obviously, there are exceptions. Bioshock is a ''locked'' game no matter which version you get since it requires server permission to install.
rent it, and dont get it through steam if you are gonna get it
rent it, and dont get it through steam if you are gonna get it
There are some real bad horror stories for when this came out on launch day, but it's all been fixed now, go ahead and grab it through steam if you can, but it doesn't make that big of a difference, I just got it through steam for auto updates and so I can use my friends network (I don't really like X-fire.)

Of course you have to! :D CoD4 is one best shooter of 2007 year... it have great, almost like film, single player campaign and awesome multiplayer... forget WWII, Modern warfare is great! :D
its a good game, worth getting it
