Is a: Athlon 64 x 2 4200, 2gb of ram, Radeon HD 2600XT 512mb, with windows xp. Is this sufficent for PC gaming for right now? For someone who is trying to come to pc gaming? Sorry if this is in the wrong topic i did not know if I should put this topic here or in pc hardware. Is this sufficent for pc gaming?
Its good enough, I would consider it to be a lower end system, personally I'm around the middle... I base my scale on a V8 dual Xeon processor super clocked computer with liquid cooling, SLi, and 8Gbs of memory, along with Raid HDDs to be top of the line...
As for gaming, your good to go, that computer should run Crysis at reasonable settings...
-edit-
My Crysis box isn't in my sig, ATM. :/
Trace, E4400 @ 2.0Ghz, 8800GTS 640MB SC, 2X1024MB DDR2-800 Crucial Ballistix, P180B Rev 1.1, GA-P35-DS3R, PC Power and Cooling 750Watt Silencer(Pre OCZ takeover), 17.1'' display...
W!ndos V!st Sucks...
Is this sufficent for pc gaming?
Cool i thought this pc wasnt going to play crysis at all since i was trying to make a cheap budget pc.
That's an average system.
Its still a good computer, I wouldn't mind having it and I'm sure I could find some room for it.
Thats a good entry-level gaming PC. But next time post in the PC Hardware discussion forum. :)

You should check into the HD3850, it's at a somewhat reasonal price by looking at your components. It is WAY better than the 2600XT
Well i am still in the saving up for the pc but the motherboard that i am trying to buy has: 1 PCI-E x16 slot, 2 PCI-E x1 slot, and 3 pci slots. Is their a very good card for a reasonable price that can run games nicely? Sorry again for being on the wrong forum.
like the previous poster said, try looking at the 3850 it will probably let you play crysis on high and will ultimately last you a lot longer.
Depends on what games you plan on playing. That rig will handle any game except not at high settings. Anything from 2006 and older should be no problem with high settings. Of course, once you put a trashy power hogging OS like Windows Vista into your system, those required system specs will be doubled. Your system is above average since a lot of people are still using single core processors with less RAM and lower end cards. Last year I has an Athlon 3800+, 1GB RAM, and an X1650Pro 236MB andmost of my 2006 titles werealmost set to max. I own nothing older than 2006 since few games beforesupported my monitor resolution. My advice, stick with XP since it will be supported at least until Vista is replaced by something else and try not to put power games like Crysis onto your system and you'll be fine. It has issues at the moment anyway. You should also consider picking up a 3850 or 3870 since they destroy your current card and are very affordable. Besides that, you're set.
Well after i save up the operating system i am going to buy is Windows XP home edition. So this will play any game???
Low end PC. Will do ok. I myself am getting a new PC.....alot better than that. No offence. But faster CPU would be good. but im sure ya will be fine. And i hope you enjoy. :)
I am planning on trying to get this in june so hopefully i wont be to far pc gaming behind.
Ah ok, fair few months yet. Save up ya cash and up some of those parts. Otherwise ya buying old hardware.

Just get it from someone who works at the office. I usually manage to get my operating systems for free, because company's usually have a license for x number of pc's and well atleast here they don't make a big fuss about it.
