Xbox controller

I try to download the software of the microsoft website (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/download.mspx ) but when i run both Xp downloads they say 'An unexpected error occured please run the set up again' and i just got kayne and lynch for 20 quid, the download worked for my vista laptop but i cant play games on it. Help please im installin K%26L right now and i want to play :(
