Cod 4 multiplayer direct x problem

Everytime I try to change any settings (video, audio, etc) in COD4 multiplayer, the game crashes and a window comes up that says, ''DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error.'' This happened to me in the demo way back when, but in the real game, it only happens suring multiplayer. I tried reinstalling directX, but that didn't seem to work. Should I reinstall COD4 as well? Otherwise I'm not sure what else to do.Cod 4 multiplayer direct x problem
i had the same damn problem. i was thinking OMG DRIVER UPDATE. I was wrong however. For w/e reason, ya need the disc in, even in mp, to change the settings. And, ya have to boot it up by launching the sp and then switching to mp. hope that helped. Cod 4 multiplayer direct x problem

Turn off xfire, then try.

that worked for me as well. I know xfire was crashing my crysis as well.
