Hello, can you tell me why the newer versions of GTA aren't available for the PC? I'd certainly buy them! Thanks! - RSGrand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories were rehashes of previous games in the series. Sure, the games took place in different eras and there were some physical changes to the maps, but the underlying infrastructure was the same. PC versions of these two games were never released probably because they most likely wouldn't have sold well.
Also, no one at Rockstar Games was too excited about bringing out a new GTA game for the PC after the whole ''hot coffee'' debacle. While this probably played a role, it most likely wasn't the big factor. Let's all hope that GTA IV gets a PC version in 2009.gta IV PC 2009 ?
What the hell does the hot coffee fiasco have to do with a PC release? Thats silly. Not like it was OUR fault that some lazy/perverted devs forgot to remove the minigame. And it was found in the console versions too. Why would that affect the release of GTA4 for the PC?gta IV PC 2009 ?

[QUOTE=''Lgy''] http://planetgrandtheftauto.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=146071Today's question is on the subject of PC versions of games in the GTA series:

It sold well on the PSP - so well that they released PS2 versions. Now, I admit that I do not have as many market analysists on my payroll as Rockstar, but I think that's a BS comment. I would have bought it. I know plenty other people who would have bought it. The game content was already built, the engine is multiplat. Just port it over, slap a budget pricetag on it and you've got an easy sale. They could've even made it a legitimate expansion pack, needing the original to play. Then a gold edition, back at full retail price. People would pay.

A Rockstar employee, or someone at planetgrandtheftauto.etc? Because hot coffee didn't hurt sales, from what I've read. It's that old chestnut, there's no such thing as bad publicity. Games like GTA thrive in the media spotlight, people love it because it's bad. Hell, Hot Coffee was probably a deliberate plant just so they could give SA the kind of marketing campaign that usually costs millions of dollars. Sure, they may have had to make a lot of out of court settlements, but I bet the benefit outweighed the detriment. As for 2009 - that depends on the console release date. Nothing is ever set in stone, and I think Rockstar will stick to their tried and true nine month window, so when the PC version comes depends on when the console version comes. Could be 2009. Will be late '08 at the soonest, anyhow. Summer would be a wet dream.
They lost millions of dollars and were sued and investigated and went through multiple scandals and a leadership change over some mini game that was disabled and never meant to be seen. The whole situation hurt them much more than everyone knows. They'll be under a microscope for a long time to come. Although I'd imagine if they do make a PC version, it will probably take a bit longer than usual to get here. Mostly to clean up the game to cover their bases.

However, I still think it's a little silly to blame the PC version. Whoever wrote that couldnt possibly work for Rockstar, because that would quality for the most ignorant statement of the year.
