So I own FFXI, WoW, and LOTRO and played them each for a decent amont of time and then stoped. I dont know why but i didnt coninue playing. Anyways Im thnking abbout looking into eve, maby dowloading the free trail. Whats your thoughts on Eve? I never played an MMO is this type of setting.Eve Online?
Why play ''EVE'' when you can play ''Freelancer'' for free?I've played both, and i assure you that ''Freelancer'' can perfectly be considered a ''MMO''.Eve Online?
just participate in the 2 week trial and decide for yourself.EVE is one of those games that takes alot of dedication, if you're not in it for the long haul I wouldn't bother with it.
EVE is the best scifi MMO out. The learning curve is just really steep. Tutorial is about two hours long.

Intill you realize that everything is linear and the further you go out guys just get harder.. All with a whooping 3 SAME MISSIONS iwth different difficulty.EVE - Pay to play, prettier graphics, focus on trade and management. Terrotiry control, much better pvp, being able to fly capital ships, huge fleet attacks, Alot of risk, etc etc..so your choice, but I vouch for Freelancer.
I played the trial 2 weeks ago, it was fun, but when you finish the tutorial you are kinda lost for stuff to do. And the above posters are right it has a VERY steep learning curve and it takes a long time to train skills. Give it a try, the tral is free, but I wouldn't buy it unless you plan on playing for a considerable amount of time.
EVE - Terrotiry control, much better pvp, being able to fly capital ships, huge fleet attacks, Alot of risk, etc etc..
What the hell are you saying?!''Freelancer'' has the best terrotiry control i've ever seen!Better ''pvp'' and capital ships with huge fleet attacks?! Freelancer has an online server of ''Star Wars'' with almost 1000 capital ships!! And i assure you that they're well modeled. You can find another server with almost 1500 spacecrafts!!! :o

Like you I recently lost interest in WoW, my game for the past three years. So I gave EVE a try and its great.Just remember to join a corporation right away (I got hooked up with a ship, mining gear, and millions of credits), and DO THE WHOLE FREAKING TUTORIAL!It has a good community as well.
Please don't talk about things you don't understand lol Freelancer and EVE are nothing alike....
Please don't talk about things you don't understand lol Freelancer and EVE are nothing alike....
''Freelancer''supports a thriving modding community, mainly due to the fact that almost all of the architecture of the in-game universe (solar systems, economy, factions, etc.) is contained within editable ''.INI'' files. Many mods have been released, from simple mods adding ships or changing speeds, to slightly more ranged mods.Reputation with any faction changes every time a player interacts with another character. If a player destroys a Corsair fighter, for instance, his or her reputation with the Corsairs will suffer accordingly. Attack their enemies and it will improve again.Factions are interlinked and have allies and enemies. Destroying an Outcast ship affects a player's reputation with the Outcasts, of course, but also makes enemies of the Outcast allies, the Liberty Rogues. In my eyes Eve is alot like X3 its far more complicated and more rewarding in the end if you play it.. Multiplayer with out mods just sucks, your dropped right into the universe really doing mundane things.. You can not control multiple ships, you can not control capital ships, there is 3 types of missions all the same and very small with only difference in difficulty.. Why does it bother you also that I wrote in your post I bolded the words so you could clearly see what I was talking about.. I just can't take you seriouslly people when Eve Online has arguably been the most evolved MMo out there sense its release.. Freelancer maybe have alot of things to it, but to compare it to the indepth quality of pvp and other such things is rather rediculous.. In the end it depends what your looking for.. If your gonna spend tons of time with your choice, then Eve Online is way better imo.
you can not control capital ships
Blasted gloom!! :xWhy the hell do you keep repeating this freaking phrase??!!YOU CAN CONTROL A LARGE AMOUNT OF CAPITAL SHIPS IN ''FREELANCER''!!!IS IT THAT DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND?!

I have seen some of the mods, but they just arn't as indepth as Eve Online.. Now does that make the game worse? No.. But I think its way more indepth with a far larger community..
If you want EVE online without, well, the EVE online part, your only option is X3 imo.Freelancer? pfffffft. Its a good game but it doesnt come even halfway to matching the complexity of EVE or X3.
Indeed. 51 Star systems in Freelancer? I'm sure us EVE heads will have to turn in our stripes - we only have 5000+Seriously people - get a grip , you're comparing two completely different games.
You sure like to revive EVE threads.
Are you implying I shouldn't?
